Pekinese stitch (lasuozi) is a looped thread fastened to the textile by back-stitch. It seems to have been applied in the Ming dynasty and became popular in the Qing dynasty. It is an important stitch in Beijing folk embroidery.

1Cross stitch
Making a cross with thread to form a pattern is called cross stitch (tiaohuazhen) and is a form of counted stitch as it relies on strict counting of the warp and weft of the ground weave for penetration of the thread. It is often seen in the folk embroidery.

1Applique
Appliqu?tiexiu) is sewing textile cut in the shape required by the design on a ground fabric. If padded, it could be called padded appliqu?(duixiu or gaoxiu).

1Embroidery with painting
Combining painting and embroidery is called painted embroidery or painting with embroidery (huaxiu). The most famous one is Gu-style embroidery (guxiu), which featured a painting as the design model, uniting painting and embroidery. The embroidery becomes the main medium with the painting as the background.
